Very large and sturdy December 24, 2008 Shawn R. Sutton (Durham, NC United States) Great umbrella- very large and the sturdiness is great. Got this for my mother and she loves it. Easy to handle and push up and take down.
Simply amazing best in class . Try to find another umbrella half as good October 30, 2008 Andrea Nugent (New york) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This umbrella is truly best in its class. I am astonished at it . Some may say that is is a little bit pricey but this 40 dollars sticker price is the cheapest you can get it . In addition that little investment goes A LONG WAY . The comfort of knowing that you will stay dry during all conditions is more satisfying than you may think . Build quality The build quality as soon as you even touch the umbrella you can see where it rises above the rest . The main shaft is polished steel and when first lifting the umbrella you get this weighty feeling. It is very dense (considering its shot length) when your first wield it but eventually you get used to it . All the finished and little touches is what shows you that this is not the 10 dollar umbrella from the corner store. Do you guys remember the moderately sharp metal clip that releases a regular umbrella to open and locks into place?? and Often times you get your finger clipped on it ?? Well with this umbrella there is a nice protective covering that shield your fingers so no more bruised fingers lol. The inside latises are made with secure heavy bendable flexible metal , and very secure tight stitching. Everything on the umbrella just says quality . You have to see one to envision what i am talking about. Design The design is remarkable and from an engineering standpoint you can sit there and wonder for hours on how somebody and why somebody did not come up with this effective design earlier. The umbrella design is double tear . From my experience in moderate wind the frame takes the brunt of the force. But in extremely high winds those vent holes you see come into affect . They raise less than an inch(you don't get wet) or so (due to the elastic supports on each end) releasing wind, not only easing the pressure on the user but most of all on the umbrella. That wind being releases actually pushes back down on the umbrella on the outside reinforcing it not to flip out . Which in my opinion is almost impossible. I would be more inclined to believe that the fabric ripped verses a flip out . The frame of the umbrella is Extremely sturdy . The companies claim to be unflippable under 55mph gust seems foolish because it feels like it could withstand 70 mph Personal usage I am 16 and live n Nyc/ City that never sleeps . I was in Manhattan and there was a definite chance for rain with winds gusting over 35 mph . So i brought my new gust buster (i own the black and white one) . in Manhattan new york , there are just certain streets where you can see the wind gusting across so hard that people are bracing a block or so ahead not to get blown away. I mean the wind was ridiculous people crossing that intersection. with their little totes umbrella immediately flipped out and got soaked and those who had umbrellas of my size were weak and flipped out as well. The metal and support within their umbrellas were cheap and not flexible enough . I took the chance and crossed the street with no problem. It stayed fully extended and the fabric did not warp onto the metal . Actually there was a problem , walking across the intersection became very difficult . The amount of surface area pushing down ( due to wind) gets transmitted to your hands and when trying to walk you are at the winds mercy in some ways . The force becomes tremendous and you can loose your footing one or twice double stepping making you look slightly drunk. But never the less you stay dry ! This umbrella has now become the only brand i will buy. I can write for hours about this umbrella but it still wont amount to how incredible , sturdy and good investment it is . Its one thing for me to tell you about it. but its another to own one . So go Own one today . Factory smell I don't know but i actually liked the factory smell and even at the worst its really not that bad at all . My mom didn't like the smell but she did not say its terrible. Being realistic its not as bad as some of the other reviews make it out to be . Cons The only con is actually its pro . The umbrella is extremely strong and will not flip (unless you are driving 75 on the highway and open it up outside the window) and you will soon realize that at which point your normal umbrellas will flip relieving the pressure of your hands this will not . In high winds It becomes a must to hold the umbrella with two hands. One at the base /grip handle and the other on the shaft itself approximately midway. The only thing that this umbrella is missing is a nice quality zip tie embedded at the end of that can be put over your hand and fastened ensuring that even if you do loose grip all is not lost . It would also make the umbrella hang able . Overall This is the BEST UMBRELLA I HAVE EVER OWNED. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING OF THIS QUALITY AND STRENGTH IN EVEN MACY'S similarly priced umbrellas. It is top of the Line and best that you can get given its relatively short length and 62 inch circumfrence . i can see why golfers and professional choose Gust buster . You WIll not be dis satisfied with this umbrella . Just order one today . you wont be sorry , Its so good you will wish it would rain so you can tote down the street watching others get drenched with their umbrellas flipping out , getting broken etc. There is no collapsible umbrella half as good as these
It works! August 29, 2008 Nicholas Leader 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This umbrella gives you much more coverage during rainstorms versus the cheap collapsing / travel style umbrella. After getting soaked during a heavier ran storm below the waist, I picked this umbrella up, HUGE improvement. A little heavier than a travel umbrella, but the dry factor is worth the slight weight increase. Nice molded handle; I would buy this again.
Huge Umbrella, stay dry at will! August 23, 2007 A. Reckeweg (Houston, TX) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic product, but the complaints about the chemical smell are valid it is very strong but goes away after a day or two. The design is fantastic. If you are in the market for a big umbrella and want a quality product look no further, here it is.
sturdy and awesome August 2, 2007 G. Wells (NYC, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm 6'6" and this umbrella fits my proportions nicely. It's a m'f'in Excalibur! Has survived several NYC Nor'easters this spring and still feels brand new.
